Let's DXB
The ever changing and growing market in Dubai keeps tourism, bars and restaurants lively all year round. Let's DXB created a new app as the ultimate guide to Eating, Drinking & Brunching in Dubai.
The Brief
The Brunch scene in Dubai is big business - a mix of great food, lively atmosphere and beautiful people. Let’s Dubai founder Peter Smith created a concept for an app to both promote the scene and offer value to users. We were tasked with the redesign and build of the Let’s DXB online app, created in order to showcase Dubai based bars and restaurants, their entertainment and special offers. Users can browse through a list of ‘Brunch’, ‘Drink’ or ‘Eat’ facilities depending on the genre selected on the home screen, make their selection and find out more.
The user interface had to be optimised for mobile devices for the app, although a custom CMS web application will be accessed through a desktop browser which was built using a .net core & Razor Pages web application The overall branding of Let’s DXB was carried across both interfaces to ensure brand consistency for the user.
To ensure partner Restaurants had flexibility with managing their content within the app, we built their Content Management System (CMS) with the ability to control offers, manage content and upload media as and when they need to.
The Solution
With the design and development teams working closely with our client, we produced wireframes ensuring functionality possibilities had been approved and accounted for ahead of the build. After the approval, the design team created hi-fi visuals. The Let’s DXB team were committed in keeping the original yellow which stood as the ‘Brunch’ service. We married complimentary colours, using these to define the ‘Eat’ and ‘Drink’ sectors and through A/B testing, introduced a crimson shade as interactive indications.
The challenge for the design team was to create an engaging interface that could lend itself to each establishment advertising on the app. This was achieved through a clean and versatile layout with the ability to house various logos and images without jeopardising the design theme.
Having recently launched, the app has had an additional 64 establishments sign up to join the Let’s DXB service. The brand has reported increases of up to 52% in time spent on the app and has projected a 34% increase in bookings across the next 6 months.
